Lapdog Entertainment is in production on “Always Loving You: Whitney Houston”.

The iconic legend, Whitney Houston, may have died February 11, 2012 but she will live on forever through her music and films. As the film unfolds, the audience will learn why she was known as “The Voice” and was arguably considered the best pop vocal singer in the last three decades. She was blessed with extraordinary vocal talent and the uncanny ability to connect with a song and drive home its drama and emotion with incredible precision.

The film will take us through the journey of Whitney’s career and how it began like a magical dream. She started off singing gospel with her renowned mother Cissy Houston, her cousin Dionne Warwick and her godmother Aretha Franklin. Soon thereafter she moved into modeling for major magazines like Seventeen and Cosmopolitan.

In 1983, Clive Davis was so impressed with Whitney that he offered her a worldwide recording contract. The film will delve into how she transitioned into becoming one of the world’s best-selling music artists of all time and how her crossover appeal then propelled her acting career at the box-office with “The Bodyguard”.

ALWAYS LOVING YOU: WHITNEY HOUSTON will showcase how the woman who had fame, fortune and beauty started off as the girl next door, but eventually went down a path that no longer was paved in gold and glittered. As the film will show, some of her friends, family and celebrities will be torn as to whether her demise was the fault of her ex-husband, Bobby Brown.

We will show the audience how Whitney Houston evolved over the years from singing her monster ballad, “I Will Always Love You” to her unforgettable performance of the “The Star Spangled Banner” at the Super Bowl.

We will see her decline as it unfolded on the Bravo series “Being Bobby Brown” to the rumors racing through Hollywood that Whitney was doing drugs, had become an alcoholic and was acting erratically.

Since Whitney Houston was first introduced to the world way back in 1985, she has given the world the gift of her mesmerizing voice. Fast forward to 2011 and it was reported that she was producing and starring in the remake “Sparkle” with Jordin Sparks.

ALWAYS LOVING YOU: WHITNEY HOUSTON chronicles the genesis of her career until her untimely death through interviews with celebrities, well-known music journalist, industry insiders, critics and archive footage.

Chris Brown Journey to South Africa was a SABC 1 special showcasing Chris Brown’s first trip to Africa, his educational trip to the Mandela Museum, a visit to an orphanage and tour to numerous townships throughout Soweto and his trip to Johannesburg to visit the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy. The show features Chris Brown at work and at play showing how he interacts with fans, revealing aspects of his personal life and secrets that he shares exclusively to the South African audience.

Exploding onto the pop charts at age 16 with the 2005 chart-topper “Run It,” Virginia-born Chris Brown seemed destined for superstardom from day one. His dazzling dance moves (reminiscent of Michael Jackson and Usher) and supple voice helped Brown’s self-titled debut album sellmore than 2 million copies, and earned him lucrative endorsement deals.

Although he took a beating in the press after pleading guilty to assaulting Rihanna in 2008, he has since bounced back. No where was this more evident than his heartfelt performance of “Man in the Mirror” during the Michael Jackson tribute at the 2010 BET Awards, where Brown fell to his knees crying.

He appeared in the box-office hit Takers alongside Michael Ealy, Idris Elba, Hayden Christenson and T.I. and recently released a new album, F.A.M.E.

Lapdog Entertainment is producing their upcoming documentary “Kim K: Famous,” a film chronicling the life of one of the world’s most talked about reality stars that is famous for being famous.

Lapdog Entertainment is set to begin pre-production January 2012.

According to Thomas Gibson, President of Lapdog Entertainment, Kim Kardashion is by far the most popular glam girl on the Hollywood circuit…she is tinsel town’s ultimate insider, globetrotting from store-to-store from one celebrity event after another—to the bright lights of television and a circus of controversy.

Kim Kardashian is Famous for being famous; she’s rubbed elbows with everyone from Paris Hilton to Tyler Perry. She has eclipsed the popularity of the celebs she’s slept with and has managed to take advantage of every opportunity that presents itself. Our documentary will go back to the origins of the young starlet and dissect the beginnings of Kardashians worldwide fame that dates all the way back to her father, Robert Kardashian and the media frenzy that followed OJ Simpson.

Kim K: Famous will have interviews with exclusive footage of friends, former lovers and fans who all have been touched in negative and positive ways by Kim. Our film will show audiences how the popularity of Kim Kardashian has affected the attitudes of young women across the globe who flock to their televisions to watch the life of Kim K and her family play out on television.

Kim K: Famous the documentary will be a no holds barred look at a young woman who has thrown out the original playbook for the meaning of success to create a new age celebrity – one that is more accessible, yet power hungry and more than likely less talented than stars of years past.

In 2004, one of the most politically charged hip-hop films was released. The film was written and directed by Thomas Gibson and produced by Quincy Jones III. In light of the upcoming elections, we thought we would take a walk back down memory lane. Check out what Variety and The Hollywood Reporter had to say:

Letter to the President

By RONNIE SCHEIB
Publication: Variety.com
Date: Mon., Sep. 6, 2004

D3 production. Produced by Trinh Banh, Quincy Jones III, Thomas Gibson. Executive producer, Jones. Directed & Written by Thomas Gibson

With: Snoop Dogg, KRS-1, Common, Ghostface Killah, Dennis Kucinich, Larry Flynt, Dame Dash, Dick Gregory, Raekwon

Part history lesson, part hip-hop contribution to the current indie docu drive to oust Bush, “Letter to the President” ambitiously strives to show how national politics effect and are effected by rap. Docu traces hip-hop’s ascendancy to bad times under Reagan and the sellout of hip-hop to good times under Clinton.

An impressive array of rap artists weigh in on the importance of voting and the direct connection between White House occupancy and quality of life in the ‘hood. Occasionally uninspired choices of archival materials tend more toward illustration than revelation, but timeliness and Quincy Jones imprimatur should prove irresistible to cable.

Tyro documentarian Thomas Gibson has constructed a condensed political primer for a disenfranchised generation. He offers hip-hop legends like Notorious B.I.G., KRS-One and Raekwon as teachers, tosses in journalists and civic leaders for ballast and Snoop Dogg as dot-connecting narrator.

Audibly, pic works well, mixing in dissenting voices and avoiding preachiness. Visually, however, pic proves uneven, strong on establishing links between crack and the Contras, but weak in its unvarying footage of Reagan accompanying its multi-sourced voiceover critique. “W”, by contrast, provides a cornucopia of ironic photo ops.

‘Letter’ Makes Connections Between Politics, Hip-hop

By Brett Sporich
Publication: The Hollywood Reporter
Date: Thursday, February 3 2005

A documentary exploring the political links between the inner-city hip-hop movement and national politics. “Letter to the President,” produced by Quincy Jones III and directed by Thomas Gibson, is slated for release March 29 on DVD. Narrated by Snoop Dogg, “Letter to the President” explores political issues that have affected the hip-hop generation and the inner-city communities where hip-hop music originated, Jones said.

“We wanted to let mainstream Americans know what hip-hop is really all about while giving a voice to the hip-hop generation,” Jones said. The documentary offers an alternative perspective on how Reagan-era policies led to the devastation of inner-city youth and how the hip-hop movement emerged as a protest.

“Letter” examines how the U.S. government might have played a part in the proliferation of drugs in urban communities, resulting in biased legislation like the Rockefeller Drug Laws, which differentiate between powder and crack cocaine in determining length of sentencing.

The stinging documentary includes the last filmed interview with the late Gary Webb, a Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter who wrote a controversial series of stories linking the CIA to crack cocaine trafficking. Webb’s 1996 series in the San Jose Mercury News alleged that Nicaraguan drug traffickers had sold tons of crack cocaine in Los Angeles and funneled millions of dollars in profits to the CIA-supported Nicaraguan Contras during the 1980s.

“Letter” also features interviews with media moguls and artists including Russell Simmons, Quincy Jones, Luther Campbell, KRS-One, Chuck D, Common, Juvenile, Chingy, Saigon, and David Banner along with Congresswoman Maxine Waters, Tavis Smiley and publisher Larry Flynt.
